Spotsylvania County, VA: Argument Leads to Murder-Suicide

Two people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Spotsylvania County yesterday. Police say that 36-year-old Scott Norris shot and killed his wife, 24-year-old Jolynn Norris following an argument before turning the gun on himself.
Deputies with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office responded to the River Heights Mobil Home Park around 10:20 a.m. yesterday. Upon arriving at the scene, police say deputies encountered Scott Norris standing over his wife's body in the doorway of his trailer home while holding a handgun. Police say that deputies were trying to speak with Scott Norris when he raised his gun to his head and shot himself.
The Norris' three children, ages 4, 2 and 11 months, were in the home when the incident started. The older two children were able to run from the home prior to the shooting. The 11 month old was still in the house when the shooting happened. The children were unharmed, and have been turned over to the Department of Social Services.
Police say that the victims were married, but had been separated for some time. Jolynn was visiting the house to pick up some belongings.
"At some point she and her husband…got into a heated argument," said Capt. Liz Scott with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
Jollen was pronounced dead at the scene, Scott was transported to Mary Washington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
