Brownesville, TX: Texas pastor charged in wife's shooting death

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A pastor and a member of his church have been charged in the shooting death of his wife in South Texas.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says capital murder charges have been filed against 40-year-old Julio Cesar Perez and 20-year-old Gabriel Apolinar Escalante.

Perez leads the Ministerios Manantial de Vida near San Benito, about 20 miles northwest of Brownsville.
The body of 39-year-old Sonia Perez, who was a third-grade teacher in Rio Hondo, was found in her vehicle in the area Thursday night.

Perez and Escalanate were arraigned Sunday and are being held without bond. Cameron County Detention Center records do not list attorneys for the men. The sheriff says authorities are seeking a third suspect.
Lucio declined to say who is accused of firing the fatal shots.
