Two women who have been charged in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old Donalds man are expected to remain in jail at least until their bond hearing, authorities said.

Angela Maree Langley, 26, and Stacey Nacole Patton, 19, have been charged in warrants with murder in the death of Shane Babb, who was shot in the head.

Investigators believe the man’s body remained in a secluded Ware Shoals home for about 28 hours while two women rented a Chevrolet Suburban in Greenwood and bought cleaning supplies at a Walmart, Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain said.

The man and a woman were in a relationship, Chastain said. Two women told investigators that one of them and the man were in a verbal and physical fight and that a woman shot Babb, Chastain said.

Investigators have been unable to corroborate information from the women, including their assertion that the man had a weapon, Chastain said. They were checking other details of their account on Sunday, he said.

Langley and Patton were being held in Laurens County’s Johnson Detention Center, Chastain said. A Circuit Court judge will have to decide whether to set bond, and Chastain said he didn’t know when that would be.

A confidential informant tipped deputies to the killing, Chastain said. Investigators put the women under surveillance and found the body on Saturday, he said.

The scene at 207 Jacqueline Drive is a mobile home without electricity or heat along a muddy road, Chastain said.

Langley’s address is listed in a warrant 65 Collins Village Circle in Waterloo, while Patton’s address was given in a warrant as 8572 Riverfork Road in Waterloo.
