A Huntsville man and his estranged wife who were reported missing Saturday morning were found dead Sunday in an apparent murder/suicide.

The bodies of Kenneth Ray John-son and Beverly Joyce Johnson, both 54, were found along with Beverly John-son’s black 2007 Nissan Altima in Sam Houston Natio-nal Forest Sunday morning by deputies of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

Though many details are still being withheld as the investigation into the deaths continues, investigators are currently treating the case as a murder/suicide.

On Saturday mor-ning, Huntsville police responded to Sam Houston Claridge Apartments in the 2000 block of 19th Street after receiving reports of a pool of blood in the apartment parking area.

During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that Beverly Johnson and her vehicle were missing.

Her apartment was also found unlocked and undisturbed and Kenneth Johnson’s vehicle was located nearby.

The couple had been separated for some time and investigators said Kenneth Johnson did not reside at the apartment complex.

In collaboration with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers, Huntsville Police Department detectives put out an alert through local media Saturday night, saying that they believed one or both individuals were in danger and possibly injured.

According to HPD Detective Slavin Richards, lead investigator in the case, further details into the circumstances of the case will be released as the events leading to both deaths are pieced together.
